We support a wide range of community groups, facilities, events, and key stakeholders through sponsorship partnerships. Through this, we demonstrate ongoing social responsibility in the wider communities in which we do business and operate vital infrastructure.

Sponsorships and donations help us to forge direct relationships with our communities and strengthen relationships with key customer groups.

Requesting Sponsorship

If you are an organisation which believes it can contribute to Unison’s community relations and corporate values, please read our sponsorship application process and criteria below.

Unison receives numerous sponsorship proposals each year and all must meet our sponsorship criteria.

Process

We have four sponsorship proposal intakes per financial year. Applicants will be contacted within three weeks of the submission deadline.

Our deadlines for the 2013-14 financial year are:

• 3 June 2013
• 2 September 2013
• 2 December 2013
• 3 March 2014 

To be eligible, all proposals must fall within the criteria below and include the sponsorship application form.

Criteria

Through sponsorship, Unison aims to achieve the following sponsorship objectives:

• Increased brand image and awareness
• Business development and growth
• Corporate social responsibility
• Increased community involvement and awareness
• Strong customer and stakeholder relations

We look for sponsorships which:

• contribute to the Company in at least one area specified above,
• provide opportunity for leverage and/or publicity,
• are within our electricity distribution network regions: Hawke’s Bay, Rotorua and Taupo,
• connect with a community group/organisation, Iwi, Council, or key customer or stakeholder in the community development, sporting, or cultural arenas, and,
• are fair, friendly, safe, ethical, and beneficial to our local communities and environments.

We do not sponsor:

• events or expenses relating to events occurring outside of Hawke’s Bay, Rotorua or Taupo,
• families,
• individual schools – at any age level, or
• events which promote alcohol, smoking, violence, use of firearms, harm to the environment or community, gambling/betting, illegal or high-risk activities (for example, extreme sports, motor-racing, hunting etc.).

NB: DONATIONS

Unison is happy to support a range of not-for-profit organisations and causes. While we endeavour to support many differing causes, it is not possible to support all. Under normal circumstances, Unison will not offer a donation in excess of $250 to any single cause or organisation at any one time.
