Last call - Unison Medal Nominations for Hawke’s Bay most Outstanding Junior Rugby Players of the 2010 Season
Date: 27 August 2010
Nominations for the Unison Medal awards are flooding in but Hawke’s Bay rugby’s greatest supporter, Unison Networks, is urging the remaining clubs and coaches to get them in before the closing date of 1 September.
The Unison Medal recognises one consistently outstanding team player in each junior rugby team who has made an all round effort in every match of the season.
Last year Unison, the power lines people awarded over 100 medals at the first awards ceremony.
Unison’s Customer Relations Manager Danny Gough said from the great standard of play he has seen across this season’s junior rugby, it is going to be a tough call for coaches to pick just one player from their team for the Unison Medal.
“From the ripper rugby squads through to the 12th grade players - we’ve got some very talented future Magpies and All Blacks in the making I’m sure!
“As Hawke’s Bay’s greatest support of junior club rugby we see this as a way to recognise those players who have consistently given it their all this season. And we’re asking that the clubs and coaches get their nominations to us before next Wednesday’s cut off date, 1st September,” Mr Gough said.
The Unison Medals will be presented at a special awards ceremony on Monday 13th Septemberat 4.30pm at the Old Boys Marist Club Rooms, Tremain Field, Park Island.
The Magpies will be training at the club grounds from 2pm and medal nominees and their families are invited to come down earlier. Players will be signing autographs at the ceremony.
Over the season Unison has also provided junior clubs with a range of resources from mouth guards, Ripper Rugby sets, rugby balls to first aid kits. The powerlines company has also launched a free limited edition Unison Mighty Magpies comic staring the ITM Cup’s favourite players.
