Unison is AMP'D after Business Awards WinDate: 11 November 2011
Local electricity lines company, Unison is celebrating the commitment of its employees to health and wellbeing following its recent win at the Westpac Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce Business Awards. Unison was awarded the Watties Workfit Healthy Workplace Award for its staff wellness programme, ‘AMP’D @ Unison’. Unison Group Chief Executive, Ken Sutherland said the company had long realised the benefits of accounting for staff health and wellbeing. "At Unison, we recognise that employees are our best assets, and we need to look after their wellbeing if we are to achieve the best results for the business and our customers." Mr Sutherland said the company had invested significant effort and resources into the development of its own programme which catered to the specific needs of its staff. "Our employees need to be empowered to achieve high performance, and AMP’D @ Unison gives us the right platform to accomplish this." Risk and Environmental Advisor, Diana Young manages the programme and accepted the award on behalf of Unison’s staff. She said the key to the success of the programme was the commitment of staff. "The programme works because all staff support it and take advantage of the activities it offers." The AMP’D programme offers various opportunities for employees to take part in events and activities which improve their state of wellbeing.
