Unison Lights up Fiesta

Date: 16 December 2011

Unison Contracting Services, a subsidiary of electricity lines company Unison, is stepping in as a sponsor of the Fiesta of Lights show for the first time these holidays.

The festival, which commences this Saturday evening at the Hawke‟s Bay Showgrounds, will feature 500,000 sparkling lights – 100,000 more than last year. Gates will be opening at 9pm, and admittance is just $4, with children under three free.

“We are really pleased to be able to support such a fantastic family event,” said Unison Contracting Services Chief Executive Officer, Charles Kaka.

“The Fiesta of Lights is a really special show, which appeals to a wide audience. At Unison we are committed to helping create a richer and more vibrant community, and we believe this event is something that contributes to that vision,” Mr Kaka said.

Now in its 13th year of running, the holiday light show includes diving dolphins, spurting whales and jumping fish. There are swinging and ball kicking kiwis, swooping eagles, jumping deer and a tree full of dancing frogs.

New effects this year include a time tunnel for children to run through, a labyrinth to meander through, a light trail to follow, and "The 12 Days of Christmas" to sing along to with „The Muppets‟.

There will also be a special New Year‟s Eve show, that will feature live music, free rides and two fireworks shows – one for children at 9.30pm and another at midnight. Gates will be opening at 7.30pm and hot food and drinks will be available to purchase.
