The Cheque’s in the Mail - $100 dividend from HB Power Consumers’ TrustDate: 16 November 2009
Hawke’s Bay electricity consumers will receive their $100 tax paid dividend from the Hawke’s Bay Power Consumers’ Trust during this week, as their share in the $6.2 million dividend from electricity lines company Unison Networks. The cheques will be posted out over the week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. All consumers can expect to receive their payment by the week of November 23. Trust Chairman John Newland said the trust is delighted that Unison’s success has enabled it to maintain a distribution of profits at the same level as previous years. “This has not been the case in many other parts of the country,” Mr Newland said. The Trust also retains a part of the dividend for initiatives that help support consumers in keeping their homes warm and safe. In the last year the Trust income has also been used to subsidise the retro fitting of heating insulations in older homes, with 470 Hawke’s Bay homes benefiting from this subsidy. John Newland said that the Trust funding created entitlement to a subsidy from EECA which had resulted in a total of $1 million towards the project. The Trust also helps subsidise the checking of electric blankets. “More than half of the homes insulated belonged to Community Card holders and we were particularly pleased to be able help,” Mr Newland said. The insulation work was undertaken by Energy Options Limited, which operates locally. Along with the $100 cheque, consumers will also receive important safety and service information from Unison Networks Limited. While the Unison network extends to Taupo and Bay of Plenty, the distribution of profits is confined to Hawke’s Bay consumers, on whose behalf the Trust holds the company’s shares. For more information please contact: |
