Junior Hockey Players Recognised for Work Ethic and Attitude

August 31, 2015

Rachel-Mace,-Taupo-Pythons-Following the conclusion of the Taupo junior hockey season, Unison this week recognised players for their excellence, both on and off the field.

Unison Group Chief Executive Officer Ken Sutherland said the 41 recipients of the Unison Medal were nominated by their coaches for having consistently shown great work ethic, discipline and fair-play.

“This is the first year the Unison Medal has been awarded, as part of our support for grass-roots hockey in the region.

“We were thrilled to see how delighted these young players were to receive their medal. We are proud to be able to recognise and encourage the future hockey stars in our region.”

Great Lake Taupo Hockey Club Development Officer, Aniek Lenoir, said the Club was very appreciative of the support from Unison.

“We are so thrilled to have Unison on board, and the kids and their families have really benefited from the partnership.

“The Unison Medal is a fantastic way to recognise the great qualities we encourage in young players, and it was a great moment for them to receive their award in front of their family and friends.”

Mr Sutherland said Unison’s support of junior hockey provided the Company with a valuable communication channel for sharing important safety messages with children, while at the same time supporting the club to enhance their development programmes, and nurture a life-long passion for the game in young players.

“We’re passionate about supporting our local communities, and about keeping them safe around our electrical assets within the region.  We’re proud to be hockey’s greatest supporter in Taupo.”

Hawke's Bay Magpies Player Makes Surprise Visit to St. Patricks School

August 24, 2015

Unison and Joe Penitito from the Hawkes Bay Magpies made a surprise visit to see our 'Greatest Supporter for August', Sam Start and his classmates at St. Patrick's School in Napier last Friday, after Sam successfully completed his mission for the month of August.

During his visit, Joe gave the class a brief rundown on what it is like to play for the Hawke's Bay Magpies, his favourite rugby game so far and what he likes to eat, while Room 14 put him through his paces with lots of interesting questions.

Sam also presented Joe with a huge number of messages of support for the Hawke's Bay Magpies - which Sam had collected as part of his mission for the month.
