If you are planning to build a new structure or extend an existing structure in the proximity of powerlines, minimum safe clearances must be adhered to. These are detailed in ECP 34 - New Zealand Electrical Code of Practice for Electrical Safe Distances (NZECP 34:2001).
In some instances NZECP 34 requires an engineering assessment to be carried out. Please contact Unison for advice around building near our network assets:

If an Engineering Assessment is required we can carry this out for you. Our standard fee for an engineering assessment is $750 (Excl. GST)*
*This standard fee applies for a typical assessment where there is a single area of encroachment. Where there are complex structures and potential for multiple areas of encroachment, the costs may vary from our standard fee. In such cases we will discuss this with you prior to undertaking the engineering assessment.
