Following the conclusion of another great Hawke’s Bay junior rugby season, Unison this week recognised players for their excellence, both on and off the field.
180 players from across the region received the Unison Medal, presented by Hawke’s Bay Magpie players and Powerman at yesterday’s annual Unison Medal Award ceremony in Hastings.
Unison Group Chief Executive Officer Ken Sutherland said recipients were nominated by their coaches for having consistently shown great work ethic, discipline and sportsmanship.
“This is the sixth consecutive year the Unison Medal Award ceremony has been running, and as always, we are thrilled to see how delighted these young players are to receive their medal. We are proud to be able to recognise and encourage the future rugby stars in our region.”
Hawke’s Bay junior rugby Chairman, Andrew Hui, said the ongoing support from Unison was greatly appreciated.
“It’s wonderful to see a local Hawke’s Bay company as passionately involved in these young rugby stars as we are.
“Receiving a medal on a stage and in front of their family is a huge thrill for these kids, and it wouldn’t happen without Unison’s support.”
The Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union were thrilled to announce, during last night’s event, that Unison had signed another three-year sponsorship commitment as a community partner, with a special emphasis on junior rugby.
Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union CEO, Mike Bishop, said the Union was delighted to be continuing its long-standing partnership with Unison.
“We greatly value our partnership with Unison. They have a long-standing reputation for their commitment to the community. What better way to be involved in the region, than with rugby, which is an important part of the social fabric of our region, touching every community at some level. With Unison’s support the spotlight will be on Hawke’s Bay
Rugby and together we can grow the local game.”
