Monday 19 October, 2018 (12.20pm) – Approximately 16,000 customers are still without power across the wider Taupo region.
Unison’s Relationship Manager, Danny Gough said, “We are continuing to work closely with Transpower NZ to restore power as soon as possible. Unfortunately, at this stage there is no confirmed ETA for restoration and customers are advised to be prepared for an extended period without power.
"The outage was caused by the failure of a piece of equipment at Transpower’s Wairakei substation around 8.40am this morning."
Taupo customers are being asked to monitor Unison’s Facebook page for updates www.facebook.com/UnisonNetworks, or to call its’ customer service team on 0800 2 86476.
