RPS Switchgear

Purchased by Unison in 2019, RPS Switchgear is an electrical switchgear business based in Petone, Lower Hutt specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of custom switchgear.

RPS manufactures, installs, commissions and services their LMVP range of 11kV distribution switchgear in both single, JAC bus and double busbar configurations.

RPS Switchgear is the original Australasian manufacturer of direct replacement retrofit vacuum circuit breakers to substantially upgrade any customers REYROLLE LMT switchgear, removing potentially dangerous oil from the substation. This has flow on benefits by reducing ongoing maintenance costs up to 70% and, in some cases, significantly extends the life cycle of the existing switchgear by a further 30-35 years.

RPS Switchgear retrofit solutions can save up to 73% over the construction of a new substation. RPS Switchgear also offers retrofit vacuum solutions for Westinghouse/Email J series and Statter circuit breakers. RPS Switchgear can provide an online PD testing service as a guide to determine the suitability of a retrofit solution and the ongoing reliability of the existing switchgear panels.
