Livening Process
To liven the connection we’ve built and get the electricity flowing between our network and your house or building we need to complete the livening process. This is all about verifying that the cables at your place (service line) are compliant and joined from your meter to our point of supply, and then getting your retailer and livening agent to turn everything on.
Our process to livening your property
Approve
Unison send an approval to liven to the applicant who submitted the job request, and copies to your retailer, electrician, livening agent.
Instruct
You request your retailer to install the meter and your livening agent to liven your site.
Livening
You’re livening agent tests and livens your site and meter and electricity flows to it.
Confirmation
The livening agent issues a livening certificate to Unison confirming the site is live and the date it was livened.
Billing
You will start to accrue charges from your retailer for any electricity used from the date on the livening certificate.
Project tips
- Make sure your electrician has put a service line in place. This is a cable running from the meter in your house or building and across your property to wherever our “point of supply” is located (i.e. on the verge, near property boundary etc).
- The service line and any other electrical assets on your property are owned by you and therefore your responsibility, not Unison’s.
- Your retailer owns and is responsible for the meter, including installation.
- Talk to your electrician and choose an authorised livening agent (see link to list).
- Once unison has issued its approval, liase with your electrician and livening agent and agree the date when you would like your site livened.
- Make sure you’ve signed up with an electricity retailer. The livening process can’t proceed unless you have opened an account with a retailer.
