Digital Safe Sparks School Competition Terms and Conditions

Promoter
1.1 The Digital Safe Sparks School Competition ("Competition") is promoted by Unison Networks Limited ("Unison").

1.2 These Terms and Conditions apply exclusively to the Digital Safe Sparks School Competition. Unison's general Promotion and Competition Terms and Conditions do not apply to this Competition. To the extent of any inconsistency, these Terms and Conditions prevail over any other promotion or competition terms published by Unison.

2. Competition Period
2.1 The Competition opens on 17 August 2026 and closes at 11:59pm on 8 February 2027 ("Competition Period").

2.2 Entries received after the closing date and time will not be eligible for entry.

3. Eligibility
3.1 The Competition is open to students enrolled at primary and intermediate schools located in Hawke’s Bay, Taupō and Rotorua.

3.2 Each student who completes the Digital Safe Sparks programme during the Competition Period may generate one entry for their school, subject to these Terms and Conditions.

3.3 A student may complete the programme and enter individually with the involvement of a parent or guardian. A teacher may also facilitate completion in class and submit an entry on behalf of participating students.

3.4 Each student may be counted only once. Duplicate entries or repeat completions by the same student may be removed from the draw.

3.5 Participation is free. No purchase or payment is required. 
3.6 A student is not ineligible to enter the competition solely because their parent, guardian or family member is employed by Uniso

4. How to Enter 
4.1 Individual entry: after the student completes the programme, a parent or guardian must submit the designated online entry form during the Competition Period andprovide the student’s first name, school and class, together with the parent or guardian contact details and other information reasonably required to administer the Competition.

4.2 Each eligible student completion equals one entry for the student’s school. If a teacher confirms that 20 eligible students completed the programme, the school will receive 20 entries.

4.3 By submitting an entry, the person submitting it confirms that: 

• they are authorised to provide the entry information;
• the relevant student or students completed the Digital Safe Sparks programme during the Competition Period;
• to the best of their knowledge, each student included has been counted only once; and
• the information provided is accurate and complete. 

4.4 Unison may rely on these confirmations. Unison may verify eligibility and compliance, request further information, combine or remove duplicate entries, and reject an entry that is incomplete, inaccurate, misleading or does not meet the Competition requirements. 

5. Prize
5.1 Three school prizes will be awarded, one in each of Hawke’s Bay, Taupō and Rotorua. Three individual prizes of NZ$100 voucher will also be awarded, one in each region.

5.2 Each winning school will receive a prize valued at NZ$500 and may choose either:

• a NZ$500 sports gear voucher; or
• a NZ$500 book voucher. 

5.3 The school prize will be awarded to the winning school.The winning school must notify Unison which voucher option it wishes to receive within the timeframe specified by Unison.

5.4 In addition to the school prizes, one eligible individual student entry in each region will be selected to receive a NZ$100 voucher. The individual prize will be provided to the student’s parent or guardian on the student’s behalf.

5.5 A prize is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.

5.6 Unison may substitute a prize with one of equal or greater value if the selected voucher is unavailable.

6. Winner Selection
6.1 One winning school in each region will be selected by random draw from all eligible student entries allocated to schools in that region. One individual student winner in each region will also be selected by random draw from the eligible individual student entries received in that region.

6.2 Each eligible student completion provides one chance for their school in the relevant regional school draw. Each eligible entry submitted individually by a parent or guardian also provides one chance for that student in the relevant regional individual prize draw.

6.3 The draws will take place on a date determined by Unison after the Competition Period closes.

6.4 Unison's decision on the draws and winner selection is final, and Unison will not enter into correspondence about the outcome except where required by law.

7. Winner Notification and Prize Administration
7.1 Unison will contact each winning school using the school or authorised representative contact details associated with the selected entry. Unison will contact each individual student winner through the parent or guardian contact details provided with the entry.

7.2 If Unison cannot contact a winning school, an authorised school representative, or the parent or guardian of an individual student winner within a reasonable period, or if a selected entry, school or individual student is ineligible, Unison may conduct a redraw for the relevant prize and region.

7.3 Each winning school is responsible for administering and using its prize. A parent or guardian who receives an individual prize on behalf of a student is responsible for administering that prize for the student’s benefit.

7.4 Once a prize has been provided to a school or to a parent or guardian on behalf of an individual student winner, Unison is not responsible for how the prize is managed, distributed or used.

8. Publicity, Photography and Video
8.1 Unison may publish the names of the winning schools for the purposes of announcing the results and promoting the Competition. Unison will only publish the name or identifying information of an individual student winner where the necessary parent or guardian permission and consent has been obtained.

8.2 Unison may publish Competition-related photographs, videos and promotional material on its website, social media channels, newsletters and in media releases, provided that Unison will only publish photographs, videos or identifying information relating to students where any necessary permissions and consents have been obtained.

8.3 Participation in the Competition does not itself constitute consent for publication of any student's photograph, video or personal information.

9. School, Parent and Guardian Responsibilities
9.1 Where photographs, videos or student information are provided to Unison, the participating school, parent or guardian is responsible for ensuring that any permissions and consents required by the school have been obtained before that material is provided to Unison.

9.2 The school, parent or guardian must notify Unison as soon as reasonably practicable if any relevant permission or consent is withdrawn.

10. Privacy
10.1 Personal information collected in connection with the Competition may include parent or guardian names and contact details, teacher names and contact details,a student’s first name, class, school, region and information required to administer the Competition and identify duplicate entries.

10.2 Personal information is collected for the purposes of:
administering the Competition;

• allocating entries to schools and regions; 
• identifying and removing duplicate entries;
• verifying eligibility;
• contacting winning schools, individual student winners through their parents or guardians, and relevant representatives;  
• awarding prizes; and
• conducting Competition-related publicity and communications where appropriate consent has been obtained. 

10.3 Personal information will be collected, used, stored and disclosed in accordance with Unison's Privacy Statement.

10.4 Unison's Privacy Statement is available at Unison Privacy Statement.

10.5 Participants may request access to or correction of personal information held by Unison in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and Unison's Privacy Statement.

10.6 Personal information collected for the Competition will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to administer and conclude the Competition, including awarding the prizes, and will then be securely deleted unless Unison is required by law to retain it for longer.

11. Competition Changes
11.1 Unison may amend these Terms and Conditions, suspend the Competition or cancel the Competition where reasonably necessary, provided that Unison will not materially disadvantage an eligible entry received before the change.

11.2 Any amended Terms and Conditions will be published on Unison's website and will state the date on which they take effect.

11.3 An eligible entry received before amended Terms and Conditions take effect will remain valid and will receive any additional prize opportunity introduced by the amendment where it meets the relevant eligibility requirements.

12. Liability
12.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unison is not liable for any loss, damage, injury or expense arising from participation in the Competition or acceptance or use of the prize.

12.2 Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under New Zealand law.

13. General
13.1 Entry into the Competition constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

13.2 These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
