Go for a Spin in an EV: International Drive Electric Week

Unison will be offering visitors to the Hawke’s Bay Farmers Market the chance to go for a spin in an electric vehicle (EV) on Sunday 11 September 2016 to celebrate International Drive Electric Week.

The electricity distribution company has also teamed up with Flying Cat in Taradale to offer visitors the chance to go into the draw to win an electric bike valued at around $2,500.

Unison Relationship Manager, Danny Gough said, “We wanted to offer people who haven’t experienced an EV the chance to get inside one, ask questions and find out what they are all about.

“EVs are becoming increasingly affordable to the everyday driver, particularly through the growing second-hand market. Battery performance is improving – with some vehicles offering up to 400km range – and with no emissions, they are a great choice for consumers who want to reduce their carbon footprint.”

Unison’s EV will be parked near the Exhibition Hall from 8.30am until 12.30pm at the A&P Showgrounds on Kenilworth Road in Hastings.

Those who wish to go into the draw to win the electric bike will need to be at the Market and answer a few simple questions about EVs. The winner will be announced on Unison’s Facebook page the following week.

Unison recently launched its public fast-charging stations for EVs, the Unison ‘Power Park’, in the Hastings and Rotorua CBDs. The business intends to install further stations in Napier and Taupo.
