Unison Contracting Services Limited (UCSL) has extended its multi-year Field Services Agreement (FSA) with Dunedin based lines company Aurora Energy, to continue to help deliver Aurora Energy’s network programme.

A wholly owned subsidiary of electricity distribution business Unison Networks, UCSL commenced its initial agreement with Aurora Energy in 2019, to carry out maintenance, renewal, and development work for the company.

The renewed contract will see UCSL continue to perform this work for at least another two years, through to March 2024.

“With UCSL’s support, Aurora Energy’s network programme in Dunedin has seen growth and progress, with workflow efficiency improving, and profitability tracking more positively,” says Toby Davis, Chief Executive Officer of Unison Contracting Services Limited.

“The extension of our agreement with Aurora Energy demonstrates the quality of work which has been produced by our team to date, as well as our ability to collaborate effectively with other electricity distribution companies.”

“The exercising of the two-year extension by both parties, including new terms and conditions, reflects a robust, collaborative review of performance drivers and commercial outcomes to enhance the already strong partnership between Aurora Energy and Unison,” says Mr Davis.

UCSL crews in Dunedin were instrumental in delivering Aurora Energy’s industry recognised Harbour Crossing Project, which has been shortlisted for awards in two categories at the 2022 New Zealand Energy Excellence Awards

The project saw two new 11kV submarine cables with 350-amp capacity replace an existing 150-amp capacity cable, and the removal of six lattice towers and their overhead conductor, resulting in an improved electricity supply to residents and improvements to the local environment.

Richard Fletcher, Chief Executive for Aurora Energy, says“We are very happy to sign the contract with UCSL for another two years.

“UCSL is one of our core field service partners working with us to upgrade our network and deliver the service improvements we have committed to our customers.

“We value their recent work on the Harbour Crossing project and look forward to working with the UCSL team on other major projects.”

Unison Contracting Services has built permanent capacity in Dunedin to efficiently meet the expanded scope of work covering maintenance, renewal and development work on Aurora Energy’s Dunedin Electricity Network.
