Unison Named a Finalist in Deloitte Energy Excellence Awards

Unison has been named as a finalist in the ‘Innovation in Energy’ award category, as part of the Deloitte Energy Excellence Awards.

The winner will be announced at the Awards ceremony on 12 August at the Langham Hotel in Auckland. Unison is up against Simply Energy and Transpower for the award.

Unison’s submission related to the use of Silver Spring Networks (SSN) Generation Four (Gen4) Distribution Automation (DA) mesh radio network to provide communications to smart devices across its three network regions, as a key enabler of the Company’s Smart Network.

Unison GM Networks & Operations, Jaun Park, said the Company’s focus on innovation was driven by a focus on delivering a superior service to its customers.

“For Unison, creating a Smart Network was never about winning awards, however receiving recognition from our industry peers for the innovative solutions we have adopted shows we are making great strides towards achieving our vision of delivering world-class network and energy solutions to our customers,” said Mr Park.

There were a record number of entries across all categories, with the judges stating their task was especially tough this year, also commenting that Unison’s story was succinctly told, and one of the most compelling.
