Unison Wins ACC Workplace Safety Award

H&S Manager, Tracey Campbell, CEO Charles Kaka, and H&S Coordinator, Lynda Dykes with the ACC Workplace Safety Award.

Unison Contracting Services has won the ACC Workplace Safety Award, at the 18th Annual Westpac Hawke's Bay Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.

HB Chamber of Commerce CEO Wayne Walford said it was huge that two Hawke's Bay's "heavy-weights", Gemco and Unison Group (UCSL), were competing for the revered ACC Workplace Safety Award 2015.

Judges stated that USCL had one of the strongest safety and health cultures they had ever encountered.  Judges also said the benefits and results of USCL's positive approach to health and safety extended well beyond the business; to the wider organisation, the region and the New Zealand Electrical industry.

"In our industry, there are many hazards that our employees need to manage.  To be recognised for not just our processes, but also our culture, shows we are succeeding in creating the best possible work environment for employee safety," said UCSL CEO Charles Kaka.

"This award is a great marker of our achievements to date, but it does not recognise the end of the journey. We will continue to pursue further safety enhancements, so that we can ensure each employee goes home safe to their families in the future."
