Unison Named as a Finalist in IDC Awards
Unison has been named as a finalist in the Smart Grid category as part of the IDC Smart City Asia Pacific Awards (SCAPA) 2017.
IDC New Zealand has announced that Unison’s Smart Network is one of six New Zealand initiatives named as finalists out of 46 smart city projects across Asia Pacific (excluding Japan). Finalists were shortlisted from over 150 submissions.
Unison GM Networks & Operations, Jaun Park, said the Company was delighted.
“When we embarked on our Smart Network strategy seven years ago, our goal was to build a network that would help us to operate assets more efficiently and improve reliability for customers without increasing costs long-term.
“We’re just starting to realise some of the benefits now. It’s an exciting time for us and we’re looking forward to really locking in the gains for our customers in the years ahead,” said Mr Park.
The Smart Network will enable Unison to reduce capital investment by 30 percent over a 10-year period, while maintaining network performance.
Unison will compete with the other nominated projects through public voting, which will account for 50 percent of the judging criteria. The other half will be based on internal assessment from the IDC Research Team and the International Advisory Council.
IDC will declare one winner under 14 smart city award categories.
